Summer Fun

I’m happy to report that life has been rather exciting lately! I’m enjoying this summer to the fullest…hanging out with friends…dining out…running. Good times all around.

I have a lot to catch you up on personally and professionally, but for now I’ll show you all the scrumptious food I’ve been eating. Of course.

I had a dinner date with Lo the Bro at my favorite Mexican restaurant in Arlington called Fuego. I was there back in May and waxed poetic about their yuca fries, remember? I didn’t get them this time and deeply regretted it. That just means I have to go back soon.

We split the Tilapia Ceviche and I ordered Al Pastor Pork and Goat Tacos just like last time. I also got the House Salad that included queso fresco, jicama, mandarin oranges and pepitas. I expected a puny little salad, but was pleasantly surprised when this massive bowl showed up!

Of course, I went all out with the chips ‘n’ salsa…especially after taking a bite out of a jalapeño pepper and subsequently setting my mouth on fire.

I took a huge bite to see if it was spicy or not. I wonder about myself sometimes…

Lo the Bro got the Carne Asada with pickled vegetables. That, on the bottom, right is said mouth-sizzling jalapeño!

I also went back to Hooked, one of my favorite seafood/sushi restaurants.

I started with the peach martini at the bar. Very strong and very delicious.

I ordered the sashimi appetizer, mostly because I LOVE yellowtail (the light pink one).

Sushi Rolls!

From the bottom up: 1) Inner Harbor Shrimp Tempura Roll topped with lump crab meat. 2) Alaska Roll with salmon. 3) Rainbow Roll with real lump crab meat (not the fake stuff!)

I’ve also been cooking some great summery meals.

Proscuitto and goat cheese stuffed chicken breast.

4th of July. Flank steak. Eggplant/tomato/mozzarella. Wine.

I love all the new Barefoot Refresh wines! Bubbly and sweet. Awesome over ice.

June was a great month for running. I had my highest mileage for any month with 137.4 miles. Even higher than at the peak of marathon training! It’s mostly because I’ve been running on back to back days when I feel like it.

My total for the first half of 2013 was 732.53 miles. Maybe I’ll reach 1500 miles by 12/31/13? We shall see.

Alrighty folks, I’m off. Have a wonderful weekend.

Tell me: What delicious foods have you been enjoying this summer?
