Merry belated Christmas and Happy New Year!

We spent Christmas week at Myrtle Beach, SC this year. We had timeshare weeks that we had to use (or lose). Though we drove 8 hours south, it was still pretty chilly…brrr! I’m glad I packed my winter gear/apparel because I really had to bundle up for my morning beach runs.

A few months into the year, I realized that at my running rate, a goal of 1,500 miles in 2013 was totally attainable. So I made it my goal. As of Christmas Eve, I had 29 more miles to run. I was right on track, but if I didn’t get my tush out there, I’d be cutting it pretty close.

I ended up running 1,503 miles in total. The last 6 miles I ran today on New Year’s Eve…getting them in just hours before the ball drop tonight.

It seemed like a lofty goal one year ago, but I did it. Through wind, snow, ice, rain, sizzling heat, sweat and tears. My highest mileage month of 2013 was in September with 141.2 miles and my lowest was in February with 101.2 miles (probably because there were less days in the month).

I probably won’t run nearly as many miles in 2014 because I’ll be working a lot more and during daylight hours.

This photo below and the first photo of the post were both taken from the balcony right by my bed. It was low season in Myrtle Beach, so there were plenty of oceanview rooms available. In fact, a lot of shops/parks were closed until the springtime. We basically spent every day lazing around the resort and outlet shopping. SO much outlet shopping. Though we’re pretty good at keeping our buying to a minimum if I do say so myself. You know, only the really really good deals.

Since we were staying at a resort, we had a full kitchen and cooked nearly all of our meals. We did venture out for a crab feast with some friends one night. They wanted to go to Joe’s Crab Shack.

Crab feast!

And now for some random photos…

Jelly Belly forever and ever. If those were made out of Buttered Popcorn (only the best Jelly Belly flavor, um yes), it would totally be worth $25,000.

Best name ever.

We drove another 10 hours south to Orlando, FL where we are spending New Year’s week in another timeshare resort. I think/hope we’re gonna check out Harry Potter World this time. Have you been? Is it worth it?

Have a wonderful New Year’s Eve whether you’re our partying or staying in. Stay safe!

Tell me: Your favorite moment from 2013 and/or one thing you accomplished!
